FT232RL is Counterfeit
On the board I received, the serial number on the FTDI chip is A50285BIA, which is a variation on the often used A50285BI which is fake. I learned that the genuine FT232RL chip is about $4, so any board that is less than $5 probably uses a counterfeit chip. Counterfeit TL232RL chips can give flakey results and the driver *may* recognize the chip as fake and write bogus data to the target device. This is disappointing as I have used MPJA for many Arduino/RasPi sensors and boards in the past with good results. Sadly the cost to return the item is about the same cost as the item so I guess I am stuck with it.

works with Linux
The serial port appeared as /dev/ttyUSB0 and it works. Only grumble is about the USB mini-B connector. Who uses that connector these days? I had to dig up old cables from the junk drawer. My first cable didnt have D+/D- wires. 2nd cable worked.

C A T Control & TTL to USB
I needed a way to convert the ttl level signals from a Rig Expert AA30.ZERO vector analysis board and the C.A .T. level signals from a Yaesu FT857D xcvr to USB. This board works perfectly in both instances.
